Welcome to Catholic Church of Archangels Bada

Catholic Church of the Archangels is a vibrant community of believers who generously share their faith in service to both God and neighbor.

Main Street, no matter where you travel, is the heart of the town. It is the center where people gather to meet, share meals, and celebrate. It is only fitting that the Catholic Church of the Archangels stands as a beacon of faith in the community. As the first church you see upon entering town, it symbolizes the central role of faith in our lives. Our church is where we gather to worship, build community, and serve as a living sign of God’s presence to one another, the town, and all visitors.

We invite you to spend some time with us and discover what makes the Catholic Church of the Archangels special. All are welcome here, no matter where you are on your spiritual journey. If this is your first time in a Catholic Church, we warmly welcome you and are happy to answer any questions. If you are returning after some time away, welcome back! If you are new to the area and searching for a spiritual home, we welcome you with open arms. We look forward to meeting you and worshiping together at Mass.

Our History

YEAR FOUNDED: 29th September. 2012 The Catholic Church of the Archangels was an out station of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Igbogila, Ipaja, Lagos. It was until it gained the status of a parish, one of the four station Churches that came out of St. Patrick Parish, Ipaja. It all began with discussion between two members who saw the difficulty parishioners living within the vicinity had to combat with before they could attend mass at either the parish center at Igbogila, or any of the other station Churches (St. Pius, Ayobo; Catholic Church of Annunciation, Ishefun; & St. Jude, Ashipa). The idea of getting a mass center at Bada by these two parishioners was first brought to the table of the then Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Paschal Obioma C.Ss.P two years before its fruitfulness, that is, 2010. But not until the year 2012 during the time of Rev. Fr. Adahi C.Ss.P did this dream came to pass, and this was a s a result of increase interest from parishioners in the area, orchestrated by these two all important parishioners. This birthed the celebration of the first mass at the BCC Center in Igesu by Rev. Fr. Adayi C.Ss.P. Liberty College School owned by Sir Bernard Akinkuotu who coincidentally was one of the two parishioners who brought the idea was given out generously to be used for celebration of Masses in the year 2012. This was approved by Rev. Fr. Adayi C.Ss.P and the first mass was celebrated there on September 29, 2012, the feast of the Archangels, with the condition that within one year members of the Church will have to get three (3) plots of land for the construction of a permanent Church. The first Council Chairman of the Church, Engr. Peter Ashamu picked up the challenge of ensuring that within this one-year target given by the Parish Priest, the three plots of land for the permanent space is gotten by organizing a fund raise. But at the end of the fund raise, the dream became a tall one; but because the Archangels stood by them and interceded, an active family of the Church purchased and donated the three (3) plots of land to the Church same week the fund raise was done. The family of Pa & Mrs. Robert Enajite Ughutevbe gave the Church for free the three (3) plots of land. With the money raised from the fund raise ceremony, and in consultation with the new Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Andrew Edogbo C.Ss.P, the construction of the Church building began, while the celebration of Mass was still ongoing at Liberty School College hall. At exactly one year of its establishment on Sunday 29th September, 2013 with joy and songs of praise, parishioners processed and danced from Liberty School at 6:00am through the environs of Bada/Balogun to the permanent site at Abiola Farm Estate, Igesu road with the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Andrew Edogbo C.Ss.p carrying the monstrance, and leading the people through, and afterwards there was celebration of the first mass on the land. About two years later the Church received a letter from the Archbishop, Most Rev. Dr. Alfred Adewale Martins that the Church has been elevated to an Outstation from Mass Center. As the number of parishioners increased the desire to become a parish began to bear root, and the building of the Rev. Fr’s house initiative was set in motion. A plot of land was purchased in addition to the existing three plots with great support from the Ughutevbe family, thus the building of the parish house stated. Twelve years down the line, with the first council meeting held in January 2024, the thought of achieving a parish status was discussed and a visit to the Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Lawrence Nwaneri C.Ss.P was made, afterwards to the Dean of Ipaja deanery, Rev. Fr. Jerome Akinyemi, thus a letter was sent and submitted to the Archbishop. After four months of making the bold step, during the Chrism mass celebration of 2024, the Archbishop Most Rev. Dr. Alfred Adewale Martins pronounced the Church a parish. To God be the Glory…..
